If you have a puppy at home, will you find that the dog suddenly has some symptoms, such as suddenly not eating, suddenly unable to stand up, suddenly coughing, etc. Let’s talk about the reasons why the puppy suddenly cannot stand up.

1. Hypoglycemia

Usually for puppies under 1 month old, it is generally recommended to feed food every 2 hours. If the owner does not feed the puppy food on time, it is easy to suffer from hypoglycemia, resulting in the inability to stand up, and will also be accompanied by symptoms such as listlessness and lower body temperature. At this time, it is recommended that the owner immediately feeds the dog 5% glucose solution to supplement energy, and if necessary, needs to go to the pet hospital for infusion.

2. Calcium deficiency

Puppies need a lot of calcium to promote bone development during their development period. If the owner only feeds the dog a single dog food for a long time, it will lead to calcium deficiency, not only standing up, but also may be accompanied by symptoms such as loss of appetite, indigestion, gradual weight loss, and slow growth. In this case, it is recommended to feed the puppy calcium tablets, goat milk powder, nutritional cream and other health products. At the same time, scientific feeding is also required, focusing on feeding highly nutritious food.

3. Injured

The puppy suddenly cannot stand up or it may be injured. For example, the puppy's flesh pad is punctured by a sharp object or the bone is broken. It is recommended that the owner carefully check the puppy's legs for wounds and broken bones, and provide treatment according to the specific situation. If there is trauma to the leg, you need to immediately use clean gauze to apply pressure to stop the bleeding, and apply antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs for treatment. If the leg is broken, you need to go to the hospital immediately to take a X-ray to determine the bone damage and location, and use external or internal fixation for treatment.

4. Arthritis

If there is a painful reaction when touching the hind limb joints of the puppy, it may be arthritis, and you need to take the dog to the pet hospital for diagnosis as soon as possible. If arthritis is diagnosed, anti-inflammatory drugs will be used to reduce inflammation. If the pain is severe, painkillers will also be given. At the same time, health care drugs that protect joints need to be given. Finally, the dog’s movement needs to be restricted during treatment to avoid increasing the damage.
