Liverpool forward Jota died in a car accident this summer. His widow Root posted an old photo on social media yesterday to commemorate her.
Rutte forwarded a photo of Jota holding up Dias' No. 7 jersey in support of the latter two years ago. She couldn't help but sigh: "2 years ago..."
Not long before that photo was taken, at the end of October 2023, Luis Dias's parents were kidnapped in their native Colombia. To show his support, Jota raised the shirt of his teammate and friend after scoring Liverpool's first goal in the league against Nottingham on October 29 (3-0).
After the game, Jota also posted this photo on his social media account. Nearly two weeks after this show of solidarity, Diaz's father, Luis Manuel, was finally released, while his mother, Silenice, had been released days earlier.
On the second anniversary of this incident, Rutte, Jota's widow and mother of three children, now recalled that beautiful moment to her fans on social media. She also liked Díaz (7.2 million followers) and his wife Guerra Ponce (794,000 followers), who also retweeted the post on social media.
