The Times reported that 35-year-old midfielder Jordan Henderson is about to leave Ajax and hopes to join a club that will improve his chances of participating in next year's World Cup.

However, despite Heatinga becoming Ajax's new head coach, Henderson decided to terminate the existing contract.

Last winter, there were rumors that Henderson might transfer to Monaco, but it eventually failed to make a move. As the captain, Henderson led Ajax to lead 9 points in the Eredivisie, but was eventually overtaken by Eindhoven and finished second.

Henderson is very eager to play in next year's World Cup and wants to join a club that will help achieve this. However, out of respect for former Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva's tragic death in a car accident, Henderson will not publicly announce his next move for the time being.

Last week, Henderson went to Anfield Stadium to pay tribute to the funeral of Jota in Gontom, Portugal.
