On August 27, local time in France, in order to cooperate with the promotion of the personal career documentary broadcasted by Canal+, Nasri reviewed many misunderstood past events in his career when he was invited to participate in the RMC Sport program. This includes the incident of refusing to call the national team in 2013 - coach Deschamps contacted him to return, but Nasri was dissatisfied with not being selected for the national team a few months ago.
At the 2012 European Cup of Poland-Ukraine, France lost 0-2 to defending champion Spain in the quarter-finals. After the game, Nasri was suspended for insulting reporters for three games. Although he can then compete in friendly matches against Japan and the World Cup qualifiers for Spain, he has not been drafted. Nasri explained: "Deschamps did not call me because he didn't want my return to attract excessive media attention."
However, Deschamps' decision made Nasri quite dissatisfied. He chose to boycott the national team: "I was worried about it and didn't join the national team for a whole year. When Deschamps invited me to participate in the South American Tour, I refused. I lied that I was injured, but there was nothing at all, but I just didn't want to go." Since then, although Nasri returned to the national team in August 2013, his performance was mediocre.
The 38-year-old retired player admitted: "I gradually returned to the national team. Although I was recruited, my mind was no longer here. My every move was closely monitored, and this state made me feel uncomfortable." When the 2014 World Cup qualifiers playoff against Ukraine, the Marseille-born player performed disappointingly and was not selected into the World Cup roster by Deschamps and announced his withdrawal from the national team in August 2014.
