The Athletic reported that goalkeeper coach Dean Kelly, who has been at Crystal Palace for 7 years, has left the team and club legend Speroni is temporarily replaced. The report stated that Crystal Palace first-team goalkeeper coach Dean Kelly joined in January 2018. In addition to goalkeeper training, he also participated in the team's set-piece tactics. Dean Kelly leaves office after more than seven years of working for Crystal Palace.
With Dean Kelly's departure, club legend Speroni will at least temporarily be promoted from the youth training academy to take over this position. He will temporarily coach first-team goalkeeper Benitez, Henderson, Matthews and young goalkeeper Joe Whitworth.
During the warm-up match between Crystal Palace and Crowley Town on Friday night, Spelloni was on the sidelines with the team, and next he will go to Austria to participate in preseason training camps and have a warm-up match with Mainz and Augsburg.
Speroni, 46, joined Crystal Palace in 2004 as a player, played for more than 15 years and played for the team more than 400 times. Spelloni retired in 2019 and returned to Crystal Palace three years later as coach of the Youth Training Academy.
Speroni said at the time: "It is a kind of glory to be back here. Crystal Palace is a club that I cherish very much. I am very happy to be one of them again. The senior team of the Youth Training Academy has started the season with excellent performance and has performed well against strong teams. The Academy has changed a lot during this period. I am looking forward to working with our future stars and looking forward to the club's continued progress on and off the court."
