Korean semiconductor giant Samsung Electronics has an aggressive layout of high-frequency wide memory (HBM) products, but its progress is relatively backward, and its global market share is not ideal, and it is facing the dilemma of being a soldier in Micron.

According to reports from foreign media such as Korean media, according to market research company Counterpoint Research, the latest report released on the 24th, in the second quarter of 2025 (April-June), SK Hynix took advantage of HBM's leading position and won a super high market share of 62% in the global HBM market, ranking as the world's largest HBM supplier.

It is worth noting that Micron surpassed Samsung for the first time with a market share of 21%, defeating the global HBM second brother treasure; Samsung's market share in the second quarter was only 17%, ranking third.

SK Hynix HBM Longtou has a stable position and a big AI business, which achieved double profits last quarter. SK Hynix High-level previously released a video message, emphasizing that "AI orders will only increase more and more" and is expected to maintain rapid growth before 2030.

However, Counterpoint Research believes that since Samsung's next-generation HBM4 product samples have been certified by NVIDIA, if the final acceptance is qualified, it will start to ship in large quantities in 2026, which will help quickly increase Samsung's HBM market share and give Samsung a chance to return to its market share. It is expected to exceed 30% in 2026.
