"In my life, there is no such plan for painting." Zhou Youmei's children went abroad to study, and she had a blank space. At the invitation of a neighborhood, she learned ink painting. In her last class every week, she mastered basic skills, including grinding ink, holding pen, cutting pen, and storing.
After studying for 1 to 2 years, the teacher immigrated to Australia and had to interrupt his studies. Unexpectedly, she became interested in ink painting. Once, she went to see Li Pei's exhibition and loved it very much. She took the initiative to study at Li Pei's Beitou home every month. "I was very busy during that time, but I didn't want to give up, because no matter how busy I was, I always had a small time of my own."
The learning process was not easy and timely
When she was in class, the teacher would show her first, and she explained: "It's not like this, so you have to practice more when you go home." She practices for two hours every day, sometimes painting, and sometimes writing painting. She thought that time passed quickly, "Pictures will make me forget the unpleasant life, and it's very easy."
"I have no ideas or goals to learn painting, but I just hope that when I'm not busy, I have something to do." However, when she learns painting, she certainly doesn't let herself go easily. She said that it's just painting lotus leaves. "I bought a knife (50 pieces) of paper, but I still can't paint it well, so I buy another knife to paint."
The most difficult thing about painting ink painting is to not make any mistakes. During the learning process, she admitted frankly: "There must be a time when you feel frustrated, like the dilute expression of ink painting cannot be revealed. At this time, I will go to the yard for a walk and have a rest."
From Zhou Yumi's painting, it can be seen that she is a very sincere student. She pointed to the bamboo in the work and said, "Bamboo leaves should be piled up and arranged in their style. Sometimes they are wild and sometimes they are reborn, and they have to keep practicing, without any shortcuts." Because they are diligent and unwilling to give up, they are all very good from plum trees, bamboos, chrysanthemums, flowers, birds, to characters, landscapes, and all the pictures are very outstanding.
The painting cannot come out and practice until the painting is successful
Especially the fish under her pen, it is lively and natural, as if it is still swimming in the water. She said, "The most difficult thing in painting fish is that they have many lines and they need to paint a sense of flexibility." How to draw it? The method is "continue to painting until it succeeds." Even Li Pei praised her sincerity, "She said that among her students, I am a very hardworking one."
Later, Wang Yong was busy with six jobs, and often had dinners at home, so Zhou Youmei had to give up painting interest at a regular time. "I haven't picked up paintings for more than 10 years." Instead, it was a kitchen knife. "When I had to go to dinner at home, I bought dishes and cook."
She said she couldn't do it both ways. Since she wanted to have a banquet, she was dedicated to doing this. "It was difficult to learn cooking in that era. Sometimes I went to a restaurant to have a meal, so I asked the chef to do it."
Wang Yong was unable to adapt to it after his death. Until she was over 60 years old, she had time to have free time, so she regained her paintings. This time, she was studying and painting at home, and she smiled and said, "Luckily, my foundation is good." Sometimes, she would also teach her how to draw a picture. She could immediately master the painting.
In 2014, Wang Yongzai passed away due to illness. Zhou Youmei accompanied him for more than 50 years, and the two had a deep relationship. She said that she dreamed of her husband every day, "I still don't have the habit of living without him." She slowly adapted to herself by painting and writing.
Zhou Yumi's life is very regular. She gets up from 5 to 6 in the morning, and after eating breakfast, she walks 5,000 to 6,000 steps, and then the painting time.
"The children and the sons will accompany me to have dinner at night. This year, due to the epidemic, three sons stayed in Taiwan." She smiled and said, "Every day I cook a table of dishes and I will also help them prepare for it. Xuezi said, "It's so happy to have children with grandma!""
Liu Chen's paintings are calm
This time, she was invited to hold an exhibition, but she wanted to refuse, "I don't want to be famous."
